Be mesmerized by the lyrical, ethereal sounds of Mekar Bhuana’s meditative antique semar pegulingan gamelan. This CD features 10 tracks of reconstructed music that was either extinct or rarely heard, studied from elderly masters and vintage recordings by ethnomusicologists and anthropologists. There are seven tone semar pegulingan tracks played in three different ancient modes and three pelegongan pieces, one of which, a composition by the famous early 20th century composer, I Wayan Lotring, which had never been released until now.
