A nggung is a Balinese jaw’s harp made from bamboo that is played with a mouth and throat technique. Mimicking the low chirp of a toad in the rice fields in the monsoon season, nggung are still played in a number of villagers across the island to accompany a secular frog dance as part of a Gamelan Genggong ensemble.
